Korean Movies to Watch With your Children

There was recently a famous movie named “Parasite” in Korea. The movie tallied over 10 million viewers and a Palme d’Or award at the Cannes International Film Festival in France. It was a historical moment in the Korean film industry when it was also awarded Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best International Feature Film at the 92nd Academy Awards. There are many other films and genres the Korean movie industry has to offer other than “Parasite”. There are many fun movies, so try different movies and dive into the wonder of Korean film!

[ Miss Granny ]

The first up is “Miss Granny”. This story follows the story of an old lady who enters a photo studio to take a portrait to use at her funeral and walks out of the studio as a younger version of herself! '“Miss Granny” is a good family movie; it’s both heartwarming and fun!

[ Exit ]

The movie “Exit” combines two genres: comedy and action. "Exit" depicts an escape story. During the 70th birthday party of the protagonist’s mother, toxic gas covers the entire city and the protagonists struggle to escape. This is a movie that mixes Korean humor into the urgency of having to escape while the characters are pursued by the gas.

[ Hello Ghost ]

The movie “Hello Ghost” is one that can make you feel the warmth of a family. “Hello Ghost” is a comedy that tells the story of ghosts that appear in front of the protagonist, who proceeds to grant them their wishes. There is a plot twist, so make sure to keep your eyes peeled till the end.

[ The Host ]

The last movie I'm going to introduce is “The Host”, another masterpiece by director Bong Joon-ho. Released in 2006, “The Host” also stars Song Kang Ho, who also starred in “Parasite”. In "The Host," a strange creature appears on the Han River and bites and harms civilians. While the protagonist tries to escape, his daughter disappears. The movie is a thrilling search to find his daughter in the Han River now threatened by the Host!

We’ve taken a peek at four Korean movies today. If you’re in Korea, how about spending some memorable, quality time with your children to watch Korean movies? I would highly recommend these Korean movies to wrap up a day with your family.
