Spicy Korean Food Level 2 : Cheese Back Ribs

Koreans love eating spicy foods. Last time, we introduced tteokbokki. This time, we'll talk about cheese back ribs! Back ribs are often steamed or grilled. Today, we'll introduce tasty ribs that are charcoal-grilled and eaten off the bones at Yegam Jjokgalbi in Pyeongtaek.

Yegam Jjokgalbi specializes in back ribs. The ribs are grilled on charcoal, and each piece is cut to be served. The prices per 1kg are as follows: 27,000 won for original (grilled) ribs, 28,000 won for spicy ribs, and 29,000 won for ribs with cheese.

Grilled back ribs with soy sauce glaze are the most commonly eaten, but if you're into spicy food, we highly recommend spicy back ribs. The red color distinguishes itself from the soy sauce glazed ribs, but it's not as spicy as it looks. Give it a try! If you're not in love with spicy food, original is also a great choice.

Another option is eating spicy ribs with cheese. The cheese tones down the spicy flavor and makes it more enjoyable. One eating tip is to wrap cheese around the rib before eating it. The restaurant also offers “half and half” menu, so you can try out different flavors at once.

They have other options, such as rice balls, naengmyeon (Korean cold noodles), and ramyeon, as well. The back ribs are incredibly tasty off the bones. The restaurant provides plastic gloves, so don’t hesitate to dig in!
