There are times when you must get rid of large appliances such as air conditioners, televisions, refrigerators, and such, to move out or for new changes to your old house. As simply disposing these items may lead to fines, you must be aware of how to properly do so.. In Korea, the pick-up of large appliances is provided free of charge through pre-registration.
You can either make reservations via online or phone, but you will need a Korean speaker for this, as English service is not provided. You can also ask your landowner or realtor for help or try using the Pyeongtaek Foreigner Information Center (☎031-692-4302)!
When requesting a large appliance pick-up, you must be aware of how many items you will be throwing away. Here are a few helpful tips before making a reservation. First, appliances such as air conditioners or wall-mounted flat-screen televisions must be taken down beforehand. Second, as it is possible to throw away small appliances along with large appliances, make sure to check all the appliances you'd like to dispose and include them in your reservation! Please note that aerial ladders are not provided as part of the service, so you must bring all appliances to the first floor on your own.
The pick-up of large appliances will be between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. on the day you indicated as your desired pick-up date (pick-up may be delayed in case there are too many reservations). Please be informed that they close on Sundays, Labor Day (May 1st), Lunar New Year’s Day, Chuseok, and New Year’s Day (January 1st). Lastly, as available pick-up days may vary depending on your location, know your appliances first, and make sure to consult with the staff (with a help of a Korean speaker) if needed!
