West 157: A Peaceful Escape [PIEF Foreign Reporter]

West 157 is a sibling owned cafe that offers a spacious and quiet environment. It opened for business in December 2019 and the location and roominess provide a relaxing break away from the busyness and crowds found in the center of the city. The name was chosen because the location is in West Pyeongtaek and the street number is 157. The sister and brother are extremely nice and helpful, especially with English speakers.

The cafe consists of four floors and various types of seating areas. There is a large outside patio on the first floor, patios on various floors, bean bag chairs and a traditional Korean seating area. The patio is a great place to watch the sunset with your significant other but also has plenty of space for a family to enjoy.

West 157 offers a variety of baked goods, coffees and teas. The vanilla bean latte, strawberry latte, and red velvet cake were all tasty. Stir up the vanilla bean latte to get all of the flavors mixed together and enjoy the sweetness. The strawberry latte was very sweet and it even came with a small scoop of ice cream! The red velvet cake was moist while the cream cheese icing was the best part.

Don’t restrict yourself to these three items though, there are plenty of other options for drinks and treats and the menu is in English and Hangul.

Sweet treats!

Bring your camera and show up before sunset so you can reflect on the day and enjoy good food and drink while you watch the sun go down behind the river.
