Zero-Waste Shop in Pyeongtaek

Korea is a country that strongly encourages recycling. Food wastes and general wastes must be disposed of separately, and plastics must be cleaned and recycled as well. Many people in Korea are working hard to protect the environment by practicing recycling and engaging in various eco-friendly activities. As Koreans’ interest in the environment has increased, zero-waste shops have opened in Korea, including in Pyeongtaek!

Green Forest Store (Chorok-Sup Sangjeom) is a place that sells eco-friendly products and collects recyclables. The shop sells products that do not harm the environment such as wooden toothbrushes, natural soaps, rattan, organic blueberry jams, mixed cereals, tumblers, cotton sanitary pads, and more.

At the refill station, visitors can bring their own laundry detergent container and fill up the liquid detergent. It is reported that one bottle of bulk detergent can save up to 40 general detergents! If you forgot to bring your own container, you can borrow a glass bottle by paying a 1,000 KRW for deposit! After using it, wash it well and return it to the store for receiving the despoit back!

The store also collects recyclables. If you have a milk carton, wash it out and bring it to the Green Forest Store! It will then be forwarded to a recycling company and be transformed into tissue or pipes. In addition, used plastic bubble wraps from packaging will be donated to the post office and bottle caps will be turned into reading rings, toothpaste squeezers, and soap holders!

The Green Forest Store opens from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays, and from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays. Come to the Green Forest Store to look around and learn more ways to protect the environment!
