Don’t let the cooler temperatures keep you indoors this winter. There are so many places to explore in Pyeongtaek. Recently we ventured to the Pyeongtaek International Central Market in search of a delicious meal. The market area is a collection of shops and winding alleys that contain any number of treasures just waiting to be discovered.

It was early evening, and my friend Hyerim remembered this little place called 세모분식, or “Triangle.” I might have walked right past if Hyerim had not been with me. She taught me two things to look for: there is a sign outside the restaurant that says “A happy Choice, Delicious Choice.” This is our first clue. The second clue was a little ticket machine outside the door. This restaurant is so popular that customers often need to take a number and wait their turn to get a seat. It’s just that good.

While many Korean restaurants have a limited number of items, Triangle restaurant has many traditional foods. We chose cold spicy noodles (my favorite!), sundae (a type of Korean sausage), tteokboki, and fishcake soup. All were delicious.

To order, there is a paper where you check off what you want to eat and give it to the server. This menu is in Korean, but easily translates using your favorite translation app if you need it. The prices are very reasonable as well. It is clear to see why this is such a popular place!
Once you leave the restaurant, enjoy shopping and exploring all the little alleyways and shops in the market. There is street parking all around the market area. Triangle restaurant is closed on Thursdays. You may have a bit of a wait if you come during peak times, but I think you’ll find the food to be worth every minute.
