How to Use Pyeongtaek City Library

 

If you enjoy reading books, make sure to visit libraries in Pyeongtaek! Libraries in Pyeongtaek have a wide collection of various books. If you would like to take some books back home, you can do so by creating a library card.

Creating a library card is only available for people who go to school or work in Pyeongtaek or the citizens of Gyeonggi-do. Therefore, when creating a library card, you must submit a few documents including identification card such as driver’s license, student ID card, passport, alien registration card, etc. Please note that student ID card must include date of birth and if you are not a citizen of Gyeonggi-do but work in Pyeongtaek, you should bring a certificate of employment with you.

At Pyeongtaek city libraries, you can borrow up to 10 books for 14 days! You can extend the rental period for another week and the application for extension can be submitted via the official website!

During the daytime, you can return books to librarians in-person or by using the machines installed in libraries. After 6pm, you can put books into unattended drop boxes. If you return books late, you will be restricted from borrowing books in accordance with the overdue dates. For example, if you return books 7 days after the return date, you cannot borrow books for next 7 days. However if you do not return books more than 60 from the original return date, you will not be allowed to borrow books for 1 year. If returns are made after 100 days pass, you will be restricted from borrowing books for two years.

Libraries in Pyeongtaek are open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. but on weekends, their opening hours change as 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The children’s book section is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and the digital collection has a shortened schedule on Mondays from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Please note that most of the libraries in Pyeongtaek are closed on the first and third Monday of each month. However, some may have different schedules so please check the operation days and hours before visiting libraries.
