Though Koreans may be widely known to be very hard working with grueling long hours, they are also very active and know how to work hard and play hard!
Throughout Korea, you can find a hugely diverse range of different activities, sports, and leisure pursuits that is unique in their ways. Though many, one of the most significantly participating sports activities is marathon racing! Pyeongtaek Insight has found a couple of upcoming marathon races to spark your interest and hopefully encourage you to join and gain a new experience in sports and activity culture in Korea!
Payback Marathon – Wanting to make a self-investment in turn for a marathon? Payback Marathon is a unique yet fun way to participate in your self-made marathon and invest money! How the 'Payback Marathon' works are pretty simple.
When registering for the marathon, you must pay a fee of 50,000 KRW to participate. As you sign up, choose which course you wish to run from up to a full marathon, a half marathon, 3km, 5km, 7km, 10km, and more! Starting your goal race length within seven days, you must record your fully completed race run up to 17 times on the 'Payback Marathon' website to prove completion.
To verify your completion, you must upload an image of your running distance (use app with GPS run tracker) and ranking report. Keeping up your pace, record a daily diary of your goal accomplishments! Once you have uploaded your records up to 17 times, you are guaranteed a 100% payback of the initial participation fee you had priorly paid.
Note that participants who do not complete their registered races will not be able to receive their money back. Recording data from treadmill runs are also available for registry and upload. The marathon is running from June 16th until December 30th of this year. If you need some motivation to work out, think of this as a “free” event that simply requires a deposit.
Culture Run 2022 – Long live Korea! In commemorating Korea's liberation in 1945, a culture liberation marathon named 'Culture Run 2022' is currently in session!
Once registered to participate, racers must have or download a GPS tracking-based running application on their device to use for time and distance tracking during your run.
There is no specific GPS running distance tracking application for this marathon race, allowing participants to use any conveniently available applications. However, during the marathon running period, run at your own pace anytime and anywhere from an entire course, half course, 5 km, 10km run, or more! Record and upload all your progress on the marathon's official website through photos, GPS app time records, and ranking reports!
Participation registration is open on a first-come, first-served basis to the first 1,000 registries with a 30,000 KRW fee. All participants who have uploaded proof of participation and progress will be rewarded with memorable marathon souvenirs, including a singlet tank, Korean flag, souvenir photo, and participation medal (all souvenir gifts will be shipped by mail to participants).
