On the 15th of last month (November), Korea’s Road Traffic Authority held the opening ceremony of the Pyeongtaek Driver's License Center located in Bijeon-dong.
Earlier in March, the corporation signed a business agreement with Pyeongtaek City while pushing for the opening of a Pyeongtaek branch Driver's License Center.
The corporation expects operations of the Pyeongtaek Driver's License Center to help resolve the inconvenience of Pyeongtaek citizens who had to travel for hours by public transportation to the nearest Yongin Driver's License Test Center to obtain a driver's license.
With that said, the center has finally completed its first-month operations and has continued to strive to do its best in assisting Pyeongtaek residents with their driving test and driver’s license-related needs.
It is also expected that residents of other surrounding regions, such as Hwaseong, Anseong, and Osan, will also be able to benefit from the opening of this new Driver’s License Center.
The new center includes a traffic safety education center, an online testing site (able to accommodate 20 test takers at a time), and a driver's license issuing department. Operating hours are from 9 AM to 6 PM (break time from 12 PM to 1 PM) on weekdays.
The head of the driver's license division at the Industrial Complex, Nam Taek-hwa, mentioned that "the opening of the Pyeongtaek Driver's License Center will help significantly reduce time and economic burdens of Pyeongtaek citizens who wish to obtain a driver's license."
Meanwhile, the corporation has continued to open several other driver's license centers within other regions throughout the country, including Gwangju, Masan, Ulsan, Cheonan, and Gumi, by selecting areas where existing driver's license testing sites are located far away from regions that include a high demand of driver’s license applications and applicants.
