The Gyeonggi Pass operates as a reimbursable transportation card. Residents who use public transportation such as buses and subways 21 times or more in a month will be eligible for refunds. The refund rates are set at 20% for the general public, 30% for young adults (aged 19 to 39), and 53% for low-income individuals, to be credited in the following month.
One of the key differences between the Gyeonggi Pass and the K-Pass is the extension of the youth age range up to 39 years, compared to the K-Pass's limit of 34 years. Additionally, the pass removes the monthly usage limit, offering unlimited use for eligible residents. The benefits apply to all forms of public transportation across the country, including the GTX-A metropolitan bus service and private railways such as the Shinbundang Line.
Foreign nationals with an alien registration number can also register for the Gyeonggi Pass. The application process mirrors that of the K-Pass, where users can apply for a credit, debit, or prepaid transportation card from a selection of banks, including Shinhan, Woori, Hana, Samsung, KB, Hyundai, NH, BC, IBK, Gwangju Bank, and K-Bank. Once the card is issued, users must register it on the K-Pass website or app.
There is no separate application process for the Gyeonggi Pass. During the K-Pass application, if the applicant's residence is verified to be in Gyeonggi, the additional Gyeonggi Pass benefits are automatically applied.
This new initiative reflects Gyeonggi Province's commitment to improving public transportation accessibility and affordability for its residents.
