Pyeongtaek City to Host 2025 13th Gyeonggi Garden Culture Expo

Pyeongtaek City has been selected to host the 2025 13th Gyeonggi Garden Culture Expo, marking a significant milestone in the city's transformation into a "garden city." The announcement follows a competitive selection process among five cities in Gyeonggi Province.

The Gyeonggi Garden Culture Expo, which has been held annually since 2010, aims to promote garden culture in daily life by rotating the event among different locales. Pyeongtaek stood out for its dedicated efforts in creating 32 community-participation forest gardens since 2019, engaging citizens, businesses, and organizations in the process.

Pyeongtaek's comprehensive plan to boost resident participation by partnering with local giants like Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics, alongside organizations such as Green Trust Pyeongtaek, Urban Forest Citizen School, and Citizen Gardeners, was a key factor in its selection. The city's initiative to establish a carbon garden community network was highly praised.

As the host city, Pyeongtaek will receive approximately 1 billion KRW from Gyeonggi-do to support the expo. Scheduled to take place over three days in October 2025 at the Pyeongtaek Agricultural Ecology Park, the event is set to be a major attraction.

Despite its forest coverage being less than 17%, Pyeongtaek is determined to use this opportunity to advance its garden development efforts and address environmental challenges. The city plans to leverage the expo to further embed garden culture into the daily lives of its residents and visitors.

Pyeongtaek's selection as the host for the 13th edition of the expo underscores its commitment to sustainability and community involvement, setting a precedent for future hosts of the Gyeonggi Garden Culture Expo.
