Just a few streets away from the main gate of Osan Air Base, hiding in plain sight, is 쫑아 분식 (Jjonga Snack Food). Even though it’s situated on the corner of one of Songtan's main streets, this small yellow restaurant can easily be missed due to the busyness of the surrounding 4/9 Market. This is the type of mom-and-pop restaurant you’ll want to gatekeep for yourself, but also want to share with the world because it’s THAT good.
Jjonga Snack Food offers a wide array of classic Korean comfort foods, including kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup), eomuk guk (fish cake soup), tteokguk (rice cake soup), bibimbap, various ramyeon options (with or without tteok and mandu), house-made gimbap (Korean sushi rolls), and sundae (Korean blood sausage). Most items are priced affordably, all under 8,000₩, making it a perfect budget-friendly spot for a satisfying meal. The generous portion sizes make it ideal for sharing, though solo diners will find a welcoming atmosphere as well.
My favorite thing to order is the tteok ramyeon, which has a little spicy kick to it. It’s a great way to warm up during the colder months of the year! The menu is also available for take away, and you’ll only have to wait a few minutes. However, I highly recommend visiting before or after the lunch rush; otherwise, you’ll be waiting in a queue.
Parking is typically available on the street, though it can be more challenging on market days. A parking garage is conveniently located two blocks away. The restaurant operates from 10:00 AM Tuesday through Sunday, with a break from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM. They are closed every Monday, and their contact details, including holiday hours, are regularly updated on Naver.
Jjonga Snack Food may be tucked away, but once you discover it, you'll likely keep coming back for more. Whether you're a regular or a first-timer, this little restaurant offers a warm, authentic taste of Korean comfort food at an unbeatable price.
