PIEF Hosts Lecture on "Cultural Diversity and Intercultural Competence“


The Pyeongtaek International Exchange Foundation (PIEF) successfully held a lecture titled "Cultural Diversity and Intercultural Competence" on October 26 at Baedari Library in Pyeongtaek. The event featured Professor Han-Up Jang of Ewha Womans University and brought together school officials, parents, foreign residents, and local citizens.

Professor Jang explored Korea's demographic challenges and the current state of its multicultural society, offering actionable solutions for progress. Highlighting the importance of intercultural competence grounded in an understanding of Korean culture, he engaged the audience through an insightful Q&A session that wrapped up the event.

PIEF President Jeong Jong-Pil noted, "Fostering respect and understanding for cultural diversity is vital to achieving sustainable development in our future society. The foundation remains committed to advancing global citizenship education to enhance intercultural competence and promote harmonious coexistence between citizens and foreign residents in Pyeongtaek.“

Looking ahead, PIEF aims to continue its initiatives into 2025, focusing on strengthening intercultural competence and nurturing global citizenship awareness among both Pyeongtaek residents and the city’s international community.
