On December 7, Pyeongtaek City held a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of its new Western Branch Office. With a total project cost of KRW 96 billion, the facility will span a total floor area of 22,640 square meters, comprising one basement level and four above-ground floors. The project aims for completion in the second half of 2026.
Designed as a modern and eco-friendly office building, the new branch office will also include a library equipped with an open-access reading room, providing a cultural hub for local residents. The existing Anjung Branch Office, known for its inefficient and limited space, has long been a source of inconvenience for citizens. The new facility seeks to address these issues while supporting balanced development in the western region and accommodating growing administrative demands.
Mayor Jang-Seon Jung emphasized the importance of the Western Branch Office as a starting point for the development of Pyeongtaek's western area. He also reaffirmed the city’s commitment to advancing key projects, including the construction of the Hwayang District General Hospital in 2025, the Anjung Station area development, the automobile cluster, and the Pyeongtaek Lake development.
