According to the Korea Rural Economic Institute’s ‘2024 Regional Development Index (RDI),’ Pyeongtaek City has been recognized as one of the fastest-growing local governments over the past decade.
The RDI measures the development level and potential of 159 cities and counties across Korea. It evaluates four key areas: living services, regional economic power, leisure space, and resident vitality. The index is released every two years.
In 2024, Pyeongtaek City achieved an RDI score of 46.1, ranking 7th nationwide. This marks a significant leap from its 45th place ranking in 2014, climbing 38 spots over ten years.
With its remarkable growth and ongoing development initiatives, Pyeongtaek City is well on its way to becoming one of Korea’s most dynamic and well-rounded urban centers.
