Cheongbuk Tunnel Gets Major Lighting Upgrade, Doubling Brightness and Safety

Pyeongtaek’s Cheongbuk Tunnel is now brighter and safer, thanks to a recent lighting improvement project completed by the Anjung Community Service Center.

The project, which replaced 456 aging sodium lamps with high-efficiency LED tunnel lights, was carried out over two months from March to April with a 300 million KRW investment. The new LED lights have significantly increased the tunnel's brightness, making it easier for drivers and pedestrians to see and improving overall safety.

Cheongbuk Tunnel serves as a key route for residents entering the Cheongbuk District but had become increasingly dim over its 15 years of use. The outdated lighting posed safety risks, prompting the city to prioritize this improvement.

Following this project, Pyeongtaek plans to further enhance road lighting in the western part of the city to ensure safer and more convenient travel for everyone.
