The Pyeongtaek–Siheung private highway will undergo a significant expansion along the 36.4-kilometer stretch from Seopyeongtaek Junction to Namansan Interchange. Currently a four-lane road with two lanes in each direction, the highway will be widened to six to eight lanes to better accommodate growing traffic.
Officials say the expansion is intended to relieve congestion in the southwestern part of the Seoul metropolitan area and to meet future transportation demands arising from new developments such as Songsan Green City. The upgrade is also expected to improve access to key ports, including Incheon Port and Pyeongtaek–Dangjin Port.
Construction is scheduled to begin in the second half of 2028, pending final approvals, with the highway projected to open to traffic in 2033.
