A new community sports hub has officially opened in Paengseong.
Pyeongtaek Urban Corporation held an opening ceremony for the Paengseong Cheongdam Sports Center on March 16, announcing that the facility will enter a trial operation period until the end of May.
The center was built on the former site of Cheongdam Middle School, after the school proposed in 2019 to make its land available for public use. The project later secured significant national funding through the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s sports facility support program (2020) and the Ministry of Education’s school complex facility initiative (2024), receiving KRW 10.2 billion out of the total KRW 18.5 billion project cost.
The complex is a modern, multi-level sports facility spanning 20,996㎡:
- 1F: Indoor swimming pool with five 25-meter lanes
- 2F: Multipurpose indoor gymnasium suitable for badminton and various community sports
During school hours, the pool and gym will primarily be used by Cheongdam Middle School students for physical education and swimming classes. Outside of those hours, the center will be open to residents.
