If you travel between Taean and the Seoul metropolitan area, transportation may become much more convenient in the future. Chungcheongnam-do recently announced that the Anseong–Taean Expressway Project has passed the feasibility review conducted by the Korea Development Institute (KDI)'s Public and Private Infrastructure Investment Management Center (PIMAC).
The project is a privately funded expressway that will connect Taean, Seosan, Yesan, Dangjin, Asan, and Cheonan before reaching Anseong in Gyeonggi Province. The new expressway will be 94.6 kilometers long with four lanes, and construction is scheduled to begin in 2031 after environmental assessments and the detailed design are completed.
Once completed, the expressway is expected to significantly reduce travel time between western Chungcheong Province and the Seoul metropolitan area. It is also expected to improve logistics, promote regional economic development, and make travel more convenient for both residents and visitors.
Chungcheongnam-do stated that it will continue carrying out the necessary administrative procedures to ensure the project moves forward as planned.
