Pyeongtaek Launches Cleanup Campaign for Illegal Advertisements Around Schools

Ahead of the new semester, Pyeongtaek City is carrying out a focused cleanup campaign targeting illegal advertisements around schools to create safer routes for students and a cleaner educational environment. The campaign will run for four weeks, from August 24 to September 18, targeting areas around kindergartens and elementary schools within child protection and educational environment protection zones.

The city is targeting various types of advertisements that may affect students and pedestrians, including outdated or harmful advertisements, mobile advertisements that obstruct walkways, unauthorized signboards, and air-filled advertising structures. Illegal advertisements found during inspections will be removed immediately, with administrative measures, such as fines, imposed on advertisers when necessary.

Pyeongtaek will also encourage businesses to voluntarily maintain or replace old signs in commercial areas, entertainment establishments, and accommodations. However, advertisements that pose a safety risk to pedestrians will be removed immediately.

Through the campaign, the city aims to ensure that students can travel to and from school more safely while creating a cleaner and more orderly environment around local schools.
