Pyeongtaek International Exchange Foundation (PIEF)is an organization leading in internationalization of Pyeongtaek City by improving friendship with the US Armed Forces in Korea and their families, promoting cultural exchanges with foreigners living in Pyeongtaek, and encouraging citizen internationalization. Currently, there are two Pyeongtaek International Exchange Foundation centers near the military facilities (Paengseong and Songtan International Community Center),
Pyeongtaek International Exchange Foundation carries out a variety of projects for foreigners. Firstly, PIEF offer Korean courses, Korean food classes, culture and art classes and Korean culture performance to "the Korean language and Korean cooking! If you are interested in learning about the Korean culture, come to participate in the Korean language and Korean cooking! Secondly, PIEF has a program called “expat network.” To be specific, PIEF provides foreigners with an opportunity of carrying out activities and exchanges in the community by assisting global supporters, global mates and foreigner communities. Enjoy interacting with citizens of Pyeongtaek and take part in diverse exchange programs!
PIEF also operates "Good Neighbor Programs" to help families of the US Armed Forces in Korea get along well with citizens of Pyeongtaek as good neighbors. You can experience the Korean culture through tours, cultural experiences, Korean-American Culture School for Children, Korean-American Friendship Festival, Halloween Festival, Dancing Carnival, Korean-American Peace Concert, and much more.
In addition to the programs mentioned, PIEF offers a volunteer opportunity to native English speakers to help Koreans practice conversational English. Also, students can interact with the local students by participating in Korean-American student exchanges or Korean-American clubs!
