How to sort waste in Korea

Waste sorting is well observed in Korea. Today, we will give you some tips how to sort waste, among the used things and food waste. We are aware that there are many who are confused with the rules. Here go some useful tips.

Firstly, you need to sort hard seeds or rinds as general waste and not as food waste. When referring to food waste, it means food leftover that can be properly used as feed for animals. For example, food waste does not include egg shells, crab shells and chicken bones, so you must throw them as general waste.

Besides, you must use a different garbage bag to throw away food waste. It is advisable to squeeze liquid as much as possible before putting the food waste into the garbage bag.

For plastic things, thoroughly wash inside of it and dry it. Take off the label attached to the plastic. You must sort papers, cans and bottles for recycling.

You can buy food garbage bags and general waste bags in convenience stores or grocery stores. If some food is mixed in the general garbage bag, the cleaners may not collect it.

For waste sorting, you need to use the standard bags and place them in the designated area. For the garbage bag images by type, please pay attention to the poster above. Make sure to throw the garbage away in the evening after the sunset and not during the daytime.

Practice correct waste sorting to keep your neighborhood clean! If you have any questions about waste sorting, please leave a comment.
