With the cold weather, the gap between the high and low temperature increases day by day. We recommended that you take precautions before the outbreak of influenza starts in October. If you get the flu, it causes a lot of pain, including muscle ache, sore throat, and migraines. We must take extra precaution because it may be challenging to go to the clinic due to COVID-19 these days, and even if you do, there is a high risk of becoming infected. We suggest getting the flu shot timely as it protects you from various infectious diseases and strengthens your immunity. In Korea, medical institutions provide flu shots, which may be free depending on your age.
This year, the eligibility for free vaccines is expanded to those between 36 months to 18 years old, pregnant women, and seniors who are 62 years or older. If you are over 75, you can be vaccinated starting on October 13th. It is October 20th for ages 70-74 and October 27th for ages 62–69. The last day of this free vaccine offer is December 31st for seniors. Pregnant women can be vaccinated for free between September 22nd to April 30th next year.
Foreigners who have an alien registration card can also be vaccinated for free if they meet the above eligibility. All others can be vaccinated for a fee at medical clinics. The cost may differ at each institution but is typically around 30,000–40,000 won. We recommend checking out whether flu shots are available and how much they cost before visiting the clinic.
