TRADITIONAL KOREAN FOOD LEVEL 1: BULGOGI (DONBUL SIKDANG) 돈불식당

Have you tried bulgogi? Bulgogi is one of the top 10 favorite Korean traditional dishes thoroughly loved and enjoyed by people from all around the world. It is made of thin slices of beef marinated in sweet spices and flavor. Once marinated, it is grilled and served. Is your mouth watering yet? Then head over to Donbul Sikdang in Songtan. At Donbul Sikdang, you can enjoy bulgogi and yeontan ojingeo (coal briquette-grilled squid).

Don-Bul Sikdang offers set menus.
Sets are consisted of both beef bulgogi and briquette-grilled squid bulgogi. Set for 2 is 28,000 won, and set for 3 is 42,000 won. If you would like extra beef or squid, you can order extra at any time as you please during the meal.

Bulgogi is covered with a generous portion of pachae (shredded Korean green onions). Once it starts boiling, a server will come and cook for you. Once your meal is fully cooked, you can enjoy the meat with dang-myeon (sweet potato starch noodle) and green onions.

*TIP: For the sauce is sweet, people often add it to their rice and mix it to create a delicious dish of its own.

Yeontan ojingeo boasts a flame-grilled flavor. Please note that this dish may be overly spicy for those lacking high tolerance for spicy food. If this applies to you, then try eating it with ssam mu (pickled radish slices/wraps). This will transform the spicy squid into more manageable and enjoyable bite!

If you are still hungry once you are done (or you know you’ll still have room once you’re done), you can add jjolmyeon (chewy noodles) to the bulgogi; we recommend ordering the noodles about halfway into your meal. The chewy texture of the noodle combined with bulgogi will take your taste bud to new appreciation. If you aren’t feeling extra noodles, you can also order bokkeumbap (fried rice) once you are done.

*Fun Fact: Bokkeumbap at the end of a meal is often called the “Korean dessert.

Don-Bul Sikdang welcomes you daily from 16:00 to 01:00, however they are closed every second and fourth Tuesday. The hours are subject to change in accordance with social-distancing protocols. Now, who is ready to delight your taste bud with some sweet bulgogi?!
