There are variations of tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) in Korea, from Soupy Tteokbokki to Jjajang Tteokbokki (rice cake with black bean sauce) and Rosé Tteokbokki. Out of the many variations, we would like to introduce you to instant Tteokbokki. Instant Tteokbokki is a type where the dish is cooked at the table entirely inside a pot.
The menu features different kinds of add-ins. At Jaehong Korean Snack, you can add jjolmyeon (Korean chewy noodles) noodles, dumplings, tteok (rice cakes), odeng (fish cakes), thin glass noodles, boiled eggs, udon noodles, and more (please note that each restaurant has its own varieties of add-ins)! Instant Tteokbokki costs ₩10,000 for 2 servings, and the restaurant offers other selections of menus, such as Jjolmyeon (Korean spicy chewy noodles), Kalguksu (Korean knife-cut noodle soup), and Tteokguk (sliced rice cake soup).
An order of Instant Tteokbokki will bring uncooked rice cakes with various add-ins placed in a large pot onto the table. Boil until the rice cakes are fully cooked and serve. Instant Tteokbokki contains Korean chili powders, hence anyone who cannot handle spicy food must be cautious!
