Have you ever made coffee over sand? Cafe “Pallet” located in Pyeongtaek offers the unique experience of making your own sand coffee. Slowly brewing a cup of coffee over sand will make the coffee taste much more sophisticated!
The signature menu of Pallet is sand coffee and sea-salt coffee. It costs 10,000 KRW to make your own cup of sand coffee. However, if you don’t want to make your own, you can simply ask a staff to make one for you. Sea-salt coffee has caramel, vanilla, hazelnut and chocolate flavors. Other options include regular coffee, hand-dripped coffee and beverages like iced tea.
Another menu worth noticing at Pallet is a dessert called ‘Lokum.’ Lokum is a turkish dessert also known as Turkish delight. Lokum has become very popular after it was featured in ‘The Chronicles of Narnia’. The texture of Lokum is chewy and soft like Korean rice cake, but is much sweeter.
Signing up for the sand coffee experience requires two parties or more. To brew coffee, sand should be heated first. Once the coffee simmers, stir it with the provided stick and repeat the boiling and stirring process. The coffee will overflow if it is not stirred at the right time, but you don't have to worry about it too much as the staff will keep an eye on it!
Pallet opens from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. and closes on Mondays. It is also a pet-friendly cafe so bringing pets is allowed!
