In Korea, many places offer one day classes that mostly let you experience making of something like soap, candles, dolls, paintings, knitting, etc. You have various options to try, in my case I had the chance to take a one day class to make a dessert candle, the name sounds super yummy, right? It’s called like that because it can be decorated with sweets shaped wax figures that almost look real.

First, the teacher who by the way is super kind and friendly, will explain and show you the materials that will be used as well as the scents recommended for dessert candles. While she prepares the wax to be melted, you will be able to smell each aroma and decide which one suits your taste the most, once you have decided it’s time to mix it with the wax and pour it on a glass, when melted this will be the body of the candle.

While waiting for the wax to harden completely, the teacher will give you a sheet with the shape of your candle container along with a variety of wax decorations in shapes of cookies, chocolates and fruits for you to test the best way to arrange them before doing it. Now that you are happy with your design it’s time to place and seal it, that way it won’t move or fall. After this you can give a special touch to your creation by choosing stickers with messages or drawings, with this maybe you can even make it a special present for someone you love.

Finally, you will also get a plastic bag to wrap your candle and protect it, just like that in the matter of one day you can learn easily how to make candles, but that’s not the only option Sol Studio offers. When I was there, I noticed different types of candles, soaps, perfumes and skin care that are also available to be made on a one day class, before taking this lesson I was interested in making soap but I was afraid it could be too difficult, but when asking the professor she said soaps are actually easier to make so I definitely want to give it a try next time.

This kind of lessons are totally private therefore you will have to make an appointment through DM on Instagram or Kakaotalk and pay for the class fee in advance. The location it’s super convenient near Pyeongtaek University and Pyeongtaek University bus stop but the studio it’s actually at the teacher’s house so you’ll have to look for the 510 building and search for door number 7, you can easily find the door with the name of the studio on it.
If you have any plans after taking this class, just keep in mind that the waiting time for the wax to harden could vary. The best thing it’s that the professor makes the experience really enjoyable, creating a comfortable and friendly mood and her creations are totally cute, don’t miss the chance to learn with her.
