“Dr. Yoo’s Traditional Noodle Soup and Pork” is a restaurant that serves delicious Kalguksu (Noodle Soup with Clams). Kalguksu is the name of chopped noodles served in soup. Dr. Yoo’s Traditional Noodle Soup and Pork is popular among many people for its great taste and reasonable price. There are floor seats and table seats, so if you are not used to sitting on the floor, we recommend you take table seats :)
The most popular menus are kalguksu (8,000 KRW) and Ulkun-Kalguksu (9,000 KRW) served with spicy sauce. Other options include Perilla seed ‘sujebi’ (soup with hand-pulled dough) soup, Bossam (pork and vegetable/kimchi wraps), Gganpung-gaji (spicy stir-fried eggplants), Galbi mandu (Korean style dumplings), and Goindol Galbijjim (braised beef ribs).
The kalguksu is boiled with fresh clams and topped with chives, carrots, and etc. The noodles are made of chives and glutinous rice, so you may find green chives in the noodles. Kalguksu tastes perfect with kimchi so if you love spicy food, try kalguksu with kimchi!
If you order one kalguksu per person, you can enjoy the traditional Korean rice wine called makgeolli, as well as some barley rice! There is a self-service bar in the center of the restaurant, so you can help yourself. Use the prepared ladle to scoop the makgeolli in the kettle. To make delicious bibimbap with barley rice, scoop rice from the rice cooker and top it with bean sprouts and young summer radish kimchi. Then, mix them with sesame oil and gochujang (red pepper paste).
