Mandu, which is also known as Korean dumplings, is the food made of minced meat, tofu, vegetables, etc. in a flour wrap. The types of Korean dumplings that we can find easily are kimchi dumplings and meat dumplings. They are filled with kimchi and meat, respectively. The spiciness level of kimchi dumplings can differ by restaurants. Today’s featured restaurant, ‘Gaeseong Sonmandu’, offers the perfect dumplings for those who aren’t familiar with spicy food as its kimchi is not too spicy.

Gaeseong Sonmandu sells mandu-jeongol (dumpling hot pot) for 8,000 KRW and sonmandu (steamed dumplings made by hand) for 7,000 KRW. Mandju-jeongol can be ordered for two or more people, and each order comes with four dumplings while somandu comes with three dumplings.

The most popular menu of Gaeseong Sonmandu is the mandu-jeongol and it is served in a pot filled with dumplings and vegetables. In addition, it is also served with a side of extra dumplings and kalguksu.

Once you are done with eating dumplings, add the kalguksu into the broth and boil to eat! The meal is served with sides of kimchi and pickled radish, and you can get refills at the self-service bar.

Gaeseong Sonmandu opens everyday except on Mondays. The restaurant opens from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and does not have break time during the day!
