Precautions for COVID-19 Vaccinations

South Korea’s vaccinations are proceeding at a fast rate as over than a half of the population has received at least one shot. However, still, there are many people who are waiting for their turn to get vaccinated. Currently, there are four types of vaccines being used in Korea and they are AstraZeneca, Janssen, Pfizer, and Moderna. The type of vaccines that people can receive is usually determined by the status of vaccine supply, age, chronic diseases, and other circumstances.

Even if you are vaccinated, you can still be exposed to viruses such as the Delta variant, so please follow the social distancing rules strictly for the time being. If you haven’t received vaccines yet, make sure to carefully read the precautions for COVID-19 vaccinations before visiting a medical center or a hospital.

First, if you suspect the symptoms of COVID-19, you should quickly get tested at the nearest testing center and wait for the results before getting vaccinated. Also, if you are in quarantine, you should delay the vaccination appointment until being released from quarantine. You need to put off getting vaccines in the case of acute diseases such as fevers (37.5or higher), until the symptoms fade away. Rescheduling the appointment is available by calling 1339.

After receiving vaccination, wait for 15 to 30 minutes at the medical center or hospital to monitor any side effects. Avoid intense work outs or activities, and abstaining from drinking alcohol for at least two days! Furthermore, you should not take a shower on the day you get your vaccine. If you have a fever or headache, take Tylenol or Aspirin. If symptoms get worse, you should visit the hospital immediately!

Social distancing requirements will gradually be eased for people who receive their vaccines. So, let’s hang in there until we can all go back to our normal, mask-free life!
