The Last Wednesday of the Month is ‘Culture Day’ in Korea

 

The last Wednesday of every month is Culture Day in Korea. Culture Day is a day that offers various cultural benefits to everyone living in Korea so that people can easily experience culture in daily life. Over 2,000 cultural facilities including movie theaters, exhibitions, museums, cultural heritages, etc. can be enjoyed at discounted rates or even free of charge.

 

First, most tickets for movies that start between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. can be purchased at 5,000 to 6,000 KRW. However, please note that depending on the original ticket price of each movie theater, price may varies. When purchasing tickets in advance, you will receive a discount automatically.

Various performances including musicals, music, dance, and theater can also be enjoyed at discounted prices. There are many exhibition facilities that open for free, so make sure to check the respective websites! Libraries allow visitors to rent out more books than usual, and some of them offer special programs.

 

On Culture Day, Gyeongbokgung Palace, Changdeokgung Palace, Changgyeonggung Palace, Deoksugung Palance, Jongmyo Shrine, and Royal Tombs of the Joseon Dynasty are open to the public for free, so if you haven’t visited them yet, make sure to do so on Culture Day!
