Today, we will introduce a unique pub near the Pyeongtaek Station! The name of the place is Homac. The name ‘Homac’ is a combination of the two words hotteok (Korean pancake) and maekju(Beer). As the name refers, the signature menu of the pub is hotteok.
Hotteok is one of the most famous street food in Korea. The dough for hotteok is made from flour, wheat, or glutenous rice and it is filled with a sweet mixture of sugar, honey, cinnamon, etc. The dough looks like a small ball before grilling, but once it is pressed and grilled, it becomes flat and round. Hotteok is especially popular and exclusive in winter because it is served hot. However, at Homac, you can enjoy hotteok at any time of the year. There are various hotteok menus to try including apple cinnamon, macadamia nutella, cream shrimp, and cheese beef. Prices for the hotteok range from 10,000 to 12,000 KRW. Other side menus include ice cream, tteokbokki (spicy stir-fried rice cake), french fries, gambas, and chicken. Furthermore, since it is a pub, it offers a wide assortment of beers, too!
Hotteok is served with french fries, whipped cream, pickles, and corn salad! The hotteok is quite big – about the size of two hands so you will be given a pizza cutter to slice it. The combo of hotteok and beer is just as great as pizza and beer.
Homac is open every day from 5 p.m. to 3 a.m. Please note that the hours may be subject to change according to the social distancing rules.
