Fresh Duck Restaurant in Songtan (Midang) 미당

Visit “Midang” in Songtan if you want to try fresh duck! It is already a popular restaurant among locals. Midang specializes in sulfur-fed duck that is grilled over charcoal. Options are charcoal-grilled duck, duck bulgogi, and boiled duck or boiled chicken. Preparing boiled duck and boiled chicken, which are also called baeksuk, takes a long time, so make a reservation in advance.

The charcoal-grilled duck is served with porridge. The a half-sized duck costs 33,000 KRW and a whole-sized duck costs 58,000 KRW. The duck dishes consist of the meat, gizzards, and wings, as well as an assortment of side dishes. Refills for side dishes are available at the self-service table! The server will bring the charcoal and sweet potatoes before serving the main dish. The sweet potatoes will go right into the fire.

Once the charcoal is set, all you have to do is place the duck meat over the grill and cook it. If you want, ask the server for mustard sauce to enjoy it with the meat. After you are done with the meat, take out the sweet potatoes from the pile of the charcoal! Sweet potatoes taste especially good when enjoyed with kimchi. :) And when you finish having the meat, ask for porridge, but if you’re too full, you can also take the porridge home with you.

Midang opens from 11:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and closes on Mondays. The restaurant is quite spacious and can accommodate many customers at once!
