Janssen Vaccines for Foreigners in Korea

Have you received your COVID-19 vaccination? If not, please visit a public health center to get vaccinated. Since August 24, Pyeongtaek City has been offering Janssen vaccines for Koreans and documented foreigners. The Janssen vaccine has a 66.9% prevention rate even with a single dose. This vaccine is recommended to people over the age of 18, but in Korea, only people above 30 years old can receive it. Therefore, anyone who was born before December 31, 1991 are eligible to apply for the Janssen vaccine.

As Korea seeks to go back to the normal life under the ‘with corona’ scheme, illegal immigrants can also receive the vaccine without any repercussions. Documented foreigners can make a reservation by a phone call, and if there are any vaccines remaining on the day you call, you may get vaccinated on the same day.

Before getting vaccinated, undocumented foreigners including illegal immigrants should receive a temporary code at a public health center by showing a passport. However, there’s one condition. The foreigners must be long-term sojourners for more than 90 days and should live or work in Pyeongtaek. Their personal information will be used for vaccination purposes only, and therefore, the illegal immigrants will not be reported to the immigration authorities. For temporary code, foreigners must arrive at a public health center at the designated time.
