The concentration of fine dust increases from December to March. Due to this reason, driving of grade 5 emission vehicles without low-emission functionalities will face inspections during this period! Therefore, if you are an owner of the 5 emission vehicles without low-emission functionalities, you cannot drive the car on weekdays from 6 am to 9 pm.
The inspections will be carried out using driving restriction patrol cameras. Pyeongtaek has announced to utilize four of the patrol cameras this time for inspection. If caught, a fine of 100,000 KRW will be imposed to 5 emissions vehicles excluding following cases: Vehicles with low-emission functionalities, emergency-use vehicles, vehicles owned by people with disabilities, and vehicles owned by authorized veterans.
Ways to mitigate pollution are converting or modifying cars to low air pollution vehicles or attaching an gas-emission mitigating device. Modifying or replacing with a low air pollution engine is also a great option.
Secondly, when idling in no-idling areas for more than five minutes, you will be fined 50,000 KRW. Idling means standing still while the car engine is on. Inspections will mainly be conducted in areas such as garages, parking lots, terminals, and logistics centers, so please keep this in mind! Idling not only wastes gas, but also increases fine dust, and can damage the engine. Thus, if you’re not driving, switch the gear to neutral!
Let’s follow the government’s regulations thoroughly to protect our precious environment!
