Part 1. Ways to fold your sweaters.
The Cake Roll – Folding your sweater in half, lay it flat on one side with the sleeves spread out to the side. Take the sleeve and fold them inward, lining them vertically in the center, then roll up the sweater tightly upward from the bottom. This folding method is best for storing your sweaters organized within your dresser drawers to be able to look and choose from just one glance.
Part 2. How to fold your sweater for prolonged storage time.
Similar to the primary method of sweater folding, lay your sweater flat-faced down to then proceed to fold the right then left side of the sweater halfway inward towards the center of the sweater. From the bottom, fold your sweater upward halfway to the middle to then fold the top part of your sweater into the bottom, creating an envelope-like form. This folding method can help reduce wrinkling and keep your sweaters neatly organized while being stored for long periods.
Part 3. Tips to consider before storing sweaters for prolonged periods.
Store sweaters after washing – Before storing sweaters and types of clothing for prolonged periods, it is recommended to pre-wash and then store to preserve your clothing's wear life. Stains left without being washed can later be difficult to remove as well as cause damage to your clothing materials.
Remove Dry-Cleaning plastic wraps before storage – If you've dry cleaned your sweater(s) or clothes, remove any plastic wraps placed on your clothing before storage. Maintaining any plastic wraps can lead to material discoloration and textile material damage. If stored in humid places, it is possible for your clothing even to develop mold.
Stay away from Vacuum Storage Bags – Tightly storing sweaters and any sort of clothing within vacuum storage bags can lead to clothing deformation. A preferable way to store your sweaters is together with a dehumidifier pack or newspaper to remove any humidity from your sweaters and clothing.
