Experience the Culture of Korea Through Traditional Music from Pyeongtaek Ji Yeong-Hee Gukak Center

From the central area of Pyeongtaekho Lake lies the home of the Ji Young-Hee Gugak Center, where Korean traditional arts and culture thrive and are appreciated by its visitors.

 


From the 'Ji Young-hee Gukak Center,' observe the Ji Young-Hee exhibition, a significant figure known as the father of modern Korean traditional music and native to Pyeongtaek.

The exhibition mainly includes a display of his achievements and life dedication, which led to the popularization, modernization, and globalization of Korean traditional music, as well as a. number of relics considered valuable and rare within the Korean traditional music world.

 

Exhibit visitors have the unique opportunity to participate and enjoy the 'Haegeum' (Traditional Korean String Instrument) experience programs and traditional Gugak performances.

 


The center also offers traditional Haegeum classes, from its 'Ji Yeong-hee Haegeum Academy,' of which they've announced their plans to expand the academy's courses, where participants can learn and feel the true beauty of life while enjoying Korean music.

 

Four courses are scheduled to run for elementary and intermediate level participants for a total of 48 times starting from September through November.

 

Music course applications are open to all Pyeongtaek residents, and beginner courses are set to be offered in priority to lower-income residents to provide the underprivileged with an opportunity to enjoy our culture through Korea's traditional music.
