DRT “Ddok Bus” to operate in Godeok New Town

Are you tired of waiting for buses with fixed routes and schedules? Well, there's good news for residents of Godeok New Town in Pyeongtaek. A new concept of transportation called “Ddok Bus” (똑버스 in Korean) is coming your way. This unique brand of Gyeonggi-do’s Demand Responsive Transit (DRT) kickstarted yesterday with 15 Hyundai Solati vehicles from May 9, 2023.

DDok Bus is a customized means of public transportation that responds flexibly to passenger calls without fixed routes in new cities or transportation-vulnerable areas. Using artificial intelligence (AI), Ddok Bus creates and operates optimal routes in real-time according to passenger demand.

To use this Bus, simply call and pay through the ‘DDokta’ app, an integrated transportation platform operated by the Gyeonggi Transportation Corporation. The app offers the optimal route or the nearest Ddok Bus vehicle according to the starting point and destination entered by the passenger. Boarding points and times are calculated and provided in real-time.

Passengers can board the bus according to the assigned boarding point and expected boarding time. If passengers with similar routes make reservations at the same time, a detour route is automatically created to allow them to ride together. The fare is 1,450 won, and a discount for integrated transfers in the metropolitan area is applied when using a transportation card.

Say goodbye to waiting in long lines and sticking to rigid schedules. With Ddok Bus, you have the freedom to board at the time and place you want and get to your desired destination with ease. Experience the revolution in public transportation today!

Unfortunately, the app is not available in English yet, and only those who can use Korea’s Identity Verification System can use Ddokta app.
