Little Greece, owned by Chef George Morakis, recently relocated and opened its doors July 10 in Pyeongtaek to bring authentic and delicious Greek food to our community. Walking into their new location, conveniently situated near Camp Humphreys and within walking distance of the Anjeong-ri Ville Street, feels like taking a trip to the Greek paradise of the Cyclades. The inside of Little Greece recalls the cobblestone streets, white-washed buildings, and blue-painted cupolas of Santorini or Mykonos. The dominating white and blue palette showcases the colors found in the Greek flag - a true tribute to Greece. If only peering over the blue window ledges painted on the restaurant walls would ensure a lookout over the Cycladic Islands and Aegean Sea!
Little Greece's menu offers wonderfully visually-appealing, healthy, and delicious choices for every type of eater. While perusing the menu, delightfully warm rolls are brought to the table accompanied by a balsamic vinegar reduction and olive oil dipping sauce option. Be sure to consider a glass of red or white wine to pair with your upcoming meal! Not all wines are available by glass but the Alexakis Kariki (Red Wine) pairs perfectly with both meat and vegetarian meals given its balanced and round profile. My favorite menu items include the Pork Souvlaki and Braised Lamb Shank, but every dish is truly exquisite and perfectly cooked. Every meat dish is extremely tender! According to Chef Morakis, the most popular menu items include Pork Gyros and Chicken Souvlaki. For a seasonal summer fare (only through August), try the Watermelon Salad as it has a wonderfully-blended flavor of watermelon, tomato, and feta cheese topped with a balsamic vinaigrette. Little Greece also recently announced that monthly specials will be added to the menu!
Each visit to Little Greece brings a personalized greeting from the very kind and genuine Chef and Owner, George Morakis. Chef Morakis has over 20 years of experience as a chef and restaurateur. George and Mrs. Morakis agree that love is what originally brought George to Korea. Though a yen for travel and to be an international chef also factored into the decision. Pyeongtaek is lucky to have yet another family-owned business joining the ranks of the Anjeong-ri Rodeo (Ville) and surrounding area. Little Greece is the perfect addition to the diverse international food options available too! Ya sas (translation: Hello) and Hairete (translation: Nice to meet you), Chef Morakis. Best of luck to Little Greece!
