What is a nōm(놈)? In Korean, 놈 refers to a man or guy and often times is preceded by an adjective. In English, nōm refers to short mythical beings with beards and pointy hats. Traditionally, nōms were known to be beer brewers in Europe but have since made their way to Korea to join the Korean Craft Brewing trend ("Beer Revolution") that began picking up intense speed in 2014 when restrictions on brewing lightened in required post-fermentation storage quantity and taxes. Over the past nine years, the Korean Craft Brewing scene has gained substantial notice and following, from both Koreans and Foreigners, with breweries and bottle shops popping up throughout Korea.
Nōm's beer and food menus are continually changing as this new business continues to expand and to wow customers. Some draft beers are limited in their releases and with every visit there is bound to be several new beers to sample. The food menu is a delightful fusion of traditional gastropub fare like nachos, tater tots, and wings and Korean favorites like cheesy corn and fried pork belly (Garlic Chicharron). Be sure to order one of everything and share - you will not be disappointed! If you are looking for more than amazing craft beer, Nōm currently features Korean whiskies (two types), Gin, Soju, and Makgeolli (eight types). If you cannot stay to enjoy a draft beer, you can always grab canned and bottled beers to go!
