When walking down one of the numerous side streets between AK Plaza and Tongbok Market you may pass the unpretentious and simple doorway to 64th Alley Taphouse, a sleepy and dimly-lit craft beer bar. 64th Alleys Tap House, opened in Pyeongtaek in 2013, was an early pioneer in the Korean craft brew explosion of the past decade. Soulful tunes fill the intimate space that boasts six wooden pallet tables. Mr. Park, the bartender and owner, serves Korean craft brews off a rotating draft beer menu. The beer selection usually features six Korean craft selections with no imported beer option. A simple but enjoyable food menu includes traditional pub fare like pizza, wings, and a cheese plate. Next time you pass by, grab a seat on a bench, order a refreshing beer and pizza, and enjoy a calm moment inside a wonderful "hole-in-the-wall" establishment you might not have realized existed.
64th Alleys Tap House is perfect for groups as well as for couples seeking an intimate and quiet setting. Beers are reasonably priced and the selection always represents a variety of choices. For those who enjoy sour beers, Mr. Park includes a sour or saison option as well. Pro-tip: If the Tingly Fruited Sour Ale is on tap, order it!
This amazing and special gem of a beer bar is best reached by public transportation as it is only a few blocks walk from AK plaza and Tongbok Market. There is no street parking but cars can be left in the lots surrounding AK Plaza.
