Gyeonggi-do and Gyeonggi Content Agency Launch 'Local Bookstore Local Currency Consumption Support Fund' on July 1
Gyeonggi-do and the Gyeonggi Content Agency have commenced the 'Local Bookstore Local Currency Consumption Support Fund' initiative as of July 1. This program, which first began in 2022, aims to boost local book purchases by offering a 10% rebate on transactions made with local currency at certified bookstores within Gyeonggi-do.
Customers participating in this initiative must use local currency to purchase books at bookstores certified by Gyeonggi-do and registered as local currency merchants. Upon making a purchase, 10% of the transaction amount is credited back to the customer's local currency account as a consumption support fund. This rebate can be spent not only at local bookstores but also at any merchant that accepts local currency.
The program is set to run from July 1, 2024, until the allocated budget is exhausted. To qualify for the rebate, customers must make purchases with local currency at certified local bookstores in Gyeonggi-do that are also registered as local currency merchants. Certified bookstores that are not registered as local currency merchants are not eligible for the support fund.
The rebate process involves an instant refund of 10% of the purchase amount to the local currency account, except in Seongnam and Siheung, where the rebate is credited on the 10th of the following month after the purchase.
Recipients of the support fund must use it within three months of issuance. The fund can be used at any merchant that accepts local currency, broadening the scope of its benefits for the local economy.
