Pyeongtaek City held a welcoming ceremony on November 2 at Anjung Station to celebrate the opening of the Seohae Line and Pyeongtaek Line.
With the opening of the Seohae Line, the North-South trunk railway network along the West Coast is now in place, cutting travel time to major points in the Seoul metropolitan area to under an hour. The trip from Hongseong to Songsan, Hwaseong will now take approximately 30 minutes, and from Anjung in Pyeongtaek to Songsan, it will take around 15 minutes.
The Pyeongtaek Line, linking Anjung Station on the Seohae Line with Pyeongtaek Station on the Gyeongbu Line, spans 22.8 km. This new passenger route will reduce travel time significantly between the eastern and western parts of Pyeongtaek, with a journey from Pyeongtaek Station to Anjung Station now taking just 14 minutes.
Pyeongtaek Mayor Jeong Jang-seon expressed his anticipation for the development and improved transportation services in the western part of the city, stating that the opening of the Seohae Line will greatly contribute to addressing the regional development imbalance.
