Gyeonggi Province will raise bus fares for the first time in six years, citing rising labor costs, increased transportation expenses, and the need to maintain deficit routes.
Under the adjustment, regular city bus fares will increase by 200 won — card fares will rise to 1,650 won and cash fares to 1,700 won. Seat bus fares will also increase by 200 won, with card fares set at 2,650 won and cash fares at 2,700 won. Express and Gyeonggi circular buses are expected to see a 400-won hike, though final rates have yet to be confirmed.
Provincial officials said the finalized fare schedule will be announced in August following a review. The new system is expected to take effect in mid-October, after each city and county completes administrative procedures and fare system updates.
