The South Korean central government has conditionally approved an investment plan to extend the GTX-A line, which currently operates to Dongtan, further south to Pyeongtaek Jije Station.
According to Pyeongtaek City, the project aims for completion and opening by 2028, with construction and coordination efforts set to begin in the near future.
Once operational, the high-speed commuter line is expected to reduce travel time between Seoul and Pyeongtaek to within 30 minutes, significantly improving accessibility for residents and commuters in southern Gyeonggi Province.
