Pyeongtaek to Expand Police Infrastructure with Two Police Stations by 2028

To address the growing public safety needs of its population, which has surpassed 610,000, Pyeongtaek City is moving forward with a major expansion of its policing infrastructure. The Gyeonggi Nambu Provincial Police Agency has officially launched projects to expand the existing Pyeongtaek Police Station and establish a new North Pyeongtaek Police Station.

Under the plan, construction of the expanded Pyeongtaek Police Station is scheduled to begin in September 2026, with completion targeted for December 2028. Meanwhile, the new North Pyeongtaek Police Station (tentative name) is expected to break ground in December 2026 and is also scheduled for completion in December 2028.

Once both projects are completed as planned, Pyeongtaek will operate two police stations for the first time, strengthening its capacity to meet increasing public safety demands driven by rapid population growth.

The expansion is expected to improve emergency response times, enhance police services, and provide more effective public safety coverage across the city as Pyeongtaek continues to develop as one of Gyeonggi Province's fastest-growing urban centers.
