The 4th of every month is “Gas Safety Inspection Day”! We mostly use gas when cooking at home. As cumbersome as it is, it is very important to inspect the gas for safety! There is a way to get a simple gas inspection at home. Shall we look into it together?
First, you must ventilate the room before turning on the gas! You need to properly ventilate the room while checking to see if it smells like gas. When using it, confirm that it is the standard blue flame. If it's a yellow flame when you light the stove, there's either foreign substances or the humidity is high, so please make sure foreign substances are kept away from the gas stove!
After using the gas, make sure to tightly lock the valve! It is one of the most forgotten actions. Let us be a bit more diligent and practice gas safety! There is a way to verify if the gas valve is operating correctly! After pushing the valve and holding it, it should only be able to turn 180 degrees. If it turns 360 degrees without even pressing it, tighten the screw of the valve groove with an appropriate-sized screwdriver. If it still does not lock into place, change it for a new one!
Last is a gas leakage check using soapy water. First, prepare detergent and water. Make soapy water using a ratio of 2:8 of detergent to water. Apply an unused toothbrush dipped in the soap water to the hoses, pipes and other areas. Wait for 10 seconds. If bubbles start to form, this means the gas is leaking! If that is the case, you should ventilate the room and contact the gas supplier! The gas supplier is the company who first installed the gas and may be different between each household. If you are not sure, it might be good to ask the home manager.
We have looked into simple ways to self-inspect gas safety at home! As it is easy to check, let us all practice gas safety and work hard to reduce gas accidents!
