Today, we will introduce the yellowtail, a fish that is immensely popular among Koreans in the winter season. Yellowtail is best enjoyed raw and it is rich in vitamin D and characterized by its firm and chewy texture. It is not available all-year-round, but only in specific seasons.

Yellowtail usually tastes best between November and February. This fish has a reddish color and it is thicker than most other types of raw fish cuisines. Large-sized yellowtail, called daebangeo in Korean, is especially more popular because it offers different tastes with its back side, belly, gills, and tail as it is larger than ordinary yellowtail.

Daebangeo is available in Pyeongtaek as well at Hanjan Seafood Restaurant in Pyeongtaek. You can get to Hanjan Seafood Restaurant in just 10 minutes by car from Pyeongtaek Station. It offers a wide assortment of raw fish cuisines in addition to daebangeo. Once your order is placed, the table will be set with a variety of side dishes such as corn cheese, grilled fish, bean sprout soup, eggs, and several different sauces. You can order just daebaengeo or also enjoy the dish with other raw fish such as salmon and halibut.

Hanjan Seafood Restaurant is closed on Mondays and opens from 16:00 to 12:00 on the following day from Tuesday to Saturday and 16:00 to 22:00 on Sundays. The restaurant is also closed on the first Tuesday of each month also! Try out daebangeo that is especially tastier in the cold winter!
