Japanese Home-Style Cooking: Restaurant Kinji(킨지)

Today, we will introduce Kinji, a restaurant that serves Japanese home-style dishes. It’s an excellent place for lunch, offering unique dishes such as grilled tripe over rice.

At Kinji, individual orders are served in a tray, so each customer can order precisely what they want to eat. They have a variety of Japanese home-style dishes, such as gyudon -규동 (beef over rice), nabe - 나베 (hot pot), tonkatsu - 돈까스 (pork cutlet), karaage - 가라아게 (fried chicken nuggets), and deopbap - 덮밥 (rice bowl with toppings). When you order food, you get a rectangular wooden tray with the main dish, soup, three side dishes, and a squash salad. Side dishes include danmuji - 단무지 (pickled radish), sangochu - 산고추 (pickled green peppers), and rakkyo - 락교 (picked scallions).

With the price range between 11,000 and 15,000 won, Kinji’s most popular items include daechang deopbap - 대창덮밥, cheese gyudon - 치즈규동, and sukiyaki udon - 스키야키 우동. Daechang deopbap is a rice bowl topped with smoky grilled tripe, onions, seasoned chives, and wasabi, topped with an egg yolk. Try a bite of the tripe, onions, and chives togetherit’s so good!

Cheese gyudon is spicy beef (rice) bowl with heaps of sliced cheese on top. It almost looks like it snowed on rice. Sukiyaki udon is noodles in soy sauce-based broth with beef. It is served with a tasty egg yolk sauce for dipping the meat.
