Family Trip to Baedari Park! [PIEF Foreign Reporter]

If you are looking for an easy and fun day trip in Pyeongtaek then look no further than Baedari Park. The park is very new and clean and offers an abundance of paved walking trails that any age group can enjoy. It also has a spacious picnic and seating area for you to sit and relax. The park is located in the popular Sosabeol area so you can enjoy some food and shopping after you take a stroll.

Beautiful view from the bridge

A few minutes walk from the left of the entrance offers a peaceful scene of the reservoir, the fountains and an expansive view of the new apartments located in the backdrop.

Map of the walking trails

There is a 1.5 kilometer (miles) and a 2.5 kilometer (miles) walking trail. The starting point is marked by a yellow circle with a red outline near the bottom of the map. The A trail is 1.5 kilometers and circles around the Baedari Reservoir. The B Trail is the longer one that takes you out to a smaller body of water and then guides you back towards the entrance. The image of the person on the right side of the map describes the proper walking posture which is a helpful feature for beginners or anyone interested in improving their walking form.

Picnic and resting area

The park entrance and view of the reservoir from the bridge is picturesque. Take your time on this walk and absorb the scenery. Once past the bridge, there is an area to sit and have a picnic or throw a football or frisbee. Many people chose to relax and reflect while enjoying a beverage and snack of their choice.

The paths are made of either concrete or planked bridges like this one. It is a great place to stop and take a picture of your family on the bridge or to face the reservoir and take a picture of its delightful fountains.

Once you're nice and tired, head towards the building in the picture above and find a great place to eat. There are various restaurants to choose from and once you're done eating there is plenty of shopping to consume the remainder of your day.

It is easy to spend a few hours at the park and few hours eating and shopping nearby. This trip has something for everyone and will leave you feeling fulfilled after you spend quality time with the family, get some exercise and enjoy the fun of the surrounding area.

To get to the park it is probably easiest to take the train to Pyeongtaek Station and take a taxi to the park. Walking from the station would take about 45 minutes and isn’t recommended, especially with children. Parking is limited in the Sosabeol area and many garages take Korean bank and credit cards without a cash option.
